Wireless Kit

 

Congratulations on your purchase of this wireless keyboard with dual mode joystick mouse (with mouse & joystick functions). The keyboard can operate freely up to a radius of about 10m or 30 feet from the receiver. This wireless keyboard kit will not only free you of the constraints of your desktop, but also provide you dual mode: mouse function for Internet browsing and joystick function for gaming. 

 

In addition to the unprecedented freedom, the wireless kit also has a row of hotkeys, including Internet, Multimedia, and Sleep key (Please note: Internet keys work only under Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.0 or later version). This package also includess a special driver, which provides unique shortcut functions.  

 

The keyboard is compatible with Windows® 98SE, Windows® ME, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP or Windows Vista™ operating system.

 

For Windows® 98SE operating system, please install the “KeyMaestro Input Device Driver” to have hot key functions.

 

For Windows® ME, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Windows Vista™ operating system, you can use the keyboard immediately after plugging the receiver connector into PC. If you want to enjoy the full functionality of the keyboard, please install the “KeyMaestro Input Device Driver.” Once the driver has been installed, these hot keys are reprogrammable. Hardware Installation

1. Plug the receiver connector into your available USB port on PC.

2. Take the keyboard and make sure the batteries are installed correctly. (Follow the polarity signs in the battery compartment.)
Remarks:

1. The keyboard uses 2pcs standard UM-3 (AA) 1.5V alkaline batteries.

2. Keyboard battery life is up to 5 months. It depends on the intensity of usage.

 

 

 

 

Software Installation

The USB device driver is included in Windows operating system.   

During initial installation of the USB device, the system will automatically detect a new hardware being added, and then bring up "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialog box. Please follow the Wizard's USB driver installation steps. Once this installation step is completed, the basic functions of the USB device will work under the operating system. The additional functions are provided only after the KeyMaestro application is installed.

  1. Insert the CD labeled "KeyMaestro Input Device Driver" into your CD-ROM drive.  

  2. The CD will run automatically and bring up the Setup dialog box.

  3. Follow the on-screen instruction to install the driver.

  4. The driver icon will show at the bottom right of the Windows system tray when the driver is loaded.

 

 

 

Uninstallation

Please note that you have to uninstall the driver first if you want to re-install the driver. 

  1. Right-click the driver icon and select "Exit" command to exit the driver program.

  2. Click "Start" menu (on the bottom left of the taskbar).

  3. Move cursor to "Programs" in "Start" menu.

  4. Move cursor again to "KeyMaestro."

  5. Select "Uninstallation".

  6. Click "" to confirm you want to uninstall.

 

 

 

Battery Low & LED Indication

There are 4 different levels for battery power indication. The battery low icon  will show in the Windows system tray when keyboard batteries are low (at Level 3 and Level 4).  

The current status of battery power will appear in the Windows system tray when moving cursor on the KeyMaestro driver icon.

 

Level 1: Battery power is full. Battery power is between 100% and 60%.

If you move cursor on the KeyMaestro driver icon in the Windows system tray, “Keyboard Battery 100%” will pop up.  

Level 2: Battery power is between 60% and 30%.

If you move cursor on the KeyMaestro driver icon in the Windows system tray, "Keyboard Battery 60%" will pop up.

 

Level 3: Battery power is between 30% and 0% and the power status is low.

 

The battery low icon  will appear beside the KeyMaestro driver icon in the Windows system tray. If you move cursor on the KeyMaestro driver icon, “Keyboard Battery 30%” will pop up. We suggest you to change batteries at this status.  

 

Level 4: Battery runs out off power. Battery power is 0%.

 

The battery low icon  will appear beside the KeyMaestro driver icon in the Windows system tray. If you move cursor on the KeyMaestro driver icon, the words “Keyboard Battery 0%" will pop up.

Moreover, the words “Keyboard Battery 0%” will automatically flash one time every 30 seconds to give warning message. Please change new batteries when this flashing message appears, or the low-powered batteries may cause problem when using the keyboard.

Note: After changing batteries, battery low icon will disappear.

 

Num Lock: KeyMaestro driver icon will show as numlock.gif (892 bytes) when pressing NumLock button.

 

Caps Lock: KeyMaestro driver icon will show as capslock.gif (893 bytes) when pressing CapsLock button.

 

Scroll Lock: KeyMaestro driver icon will show as scrolock.gif (892 bytes) when pressing Scroll Lock button.

 

 

 

Hot Key Blocks Feature  

Once the driver has been installed, these hot keys are reprogrammable They can be configured as a string, a combination key, a web site. an existing file, or a function that the driver pre-defines for you. Click KeyMaestro icon on the Windows system tray to reconfigure these keys. Please refer to the description of the "Commands in the Menu" for more detailed information. 

For Windows® 98SE operating system, please install the “KeyMaestro Input Device Driver” to have hot key functions. For Windows® ME, Windows® 2000, Windows® XP and Windows Vista™ operating system, you can use the keyboard immediately after plugging the receiver connector into PC. Play / Pause

play file in the current track. Press again to pause.

Stop

stop the playing.

Next Track / 
Fast Forward

skip forward to the next file / track or plays forward fast

Note: The Fast Forward function only supports Microsoft CD Player Windows® 98SE and Microsoft CD Player Version 5.0 (under Windows® 2000).

Eject / Close

eject the CD tray. Press this button again to close the tray cover.  

 

Your keyboard has the power management “Sleep” key. It also can be called ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) key.  

Sleep

put your system into sleep (power-saving) mode.

Any key will wake up your system and return to the previous working status.

 

After installing KeyMaestro Input Device Driver, you can not only enjoy the hot keys functions of the wireless keyboard, but also enjoy the marvelous dual mode with mouse & joystick functions.

Note:Mouse function” is the default function of dual mode. If this function can’t be worked properly, please press Fn + F11 to check and enable the function.

“Joystick Function” can only be used when playing computer games. Press Fn + F12 to switch to “Joystick Function”. When switching to Joystick Mode, a  icon will appear beside the KeyMaestro driver icon in the Windows system tray.

3. When using “Joystick function” under each computer game, all the keys default function is defined by game software, not by KeyMaestro Input Device Driver. Which means depending on each different game, you may need to modify the games configuration to take full functionality of the joystick.

Mouse Quick Jump Functions

After installing KeyMaestro Input Device Driver, you can press "Mouse Middle Button" to pop up the "Mouse Quick Jump Menu.". By clicking on this "Quick Jump Menu," you can easily access different Functions. 

There are five items including Internet, Multimedia, Office, Dual Wheel, and Exit in the inner circle. When moving the cursor onto each items, different functions will pop up at the outer circle. Please refer to the following descriptions:

When clicking on  icon located on inner circle, an Internet Function Menu would pop up at outer circle: 

Functions like WWW, WWW Favorite, WWW Search, Email, WWW Refresh, WWW Back, WWW Forward, WWW Stop are included. 

WWW

starts your Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 and bring up the home page you set.

WWW Favorite

selects a web page from your list of favorites.

WWW Search

gains access to a number of search providers.

Email

opens the default program you use for mail.

WWW Refresh

refreshes the current Web page to make sure you have the latest Web page.

WWW Back

returns the last page you viewed.

WWW Forward

views the next page you’ve viewed before.

WWW Stop

If a page you’re trying to view is taking too long to open, click this button to stop.

 

When clicking on  icon located on inner circle, a Multimedia Function Menu would pop up at outer circle: 

Functions like Volume Down, Volume Up, Mute, Previous Track, Next Track, Play/Pause, Stop, Eject/Close are included.

Volume Up

controls the volume to down or up of your audio output of speakers.

Mute

mutes or resumes sound output

Previous Track

skips backward to the previous track.

Next Track

skips backward to the next track.

Play / Pause

plays file in the current track. Press again to pause.

Stop

stops playing.

Eject / Close

ejects the CD tray. Press again to close tray cover.

When clicking on  icon located on inner circle, an Office Function Menu would pop up at outer circle:

Functions like Word, Excel, Power Point, Calendar, Shortcut 1~ Shortcut 4 are included.

opens Microsoft Word.

Excel

opens Microsoft Excel.

Power Point

opens Microsoft PowerPoint.

Calendar

opens "Calendar" function of Microsoft Outlook Express.

This can provide you to create easy accesses to the documents and programs you use most often.

 

Note: The default setting for each Shortcut button is different. For example, Shortcut 4  is to launch Windows accessory program “Notepad”.

 

Commands in the Menu

If you right-click on the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar, a menu will pop up with the following commands.

Click on this command, a customization dialog box will pop up with the following functions. 

1.       Select A Hotkey

This function contains the default function of a key. You can click on "Display Label" to re-define the key functions. When you click it, a Configure Button box will appear.

*       Label

In "Button Label" box, type the name of the application that the button will launch, or any name that will help you remember the function of the button. This label will appear on screen each time you press the button.

*        Functions

You can see a list of pre-defined functions and set one of them for the button.

*        Launch Application or Website

Type in the path to a frequently used application or click the Browse button to select any file in your computer. If you want to attach a web page to the button, just simply type in the website address in the dialog box.

*       Combination Key

In many Windows applications, there are many hot keys to execute some frequently used commands. Some hot keys are combined with two or three keys pressed simultaneously and some are combined with Windows key. It is not easy to press and remember those hot keys. Now you can define those complicated hot keys you always forgot. The ways to define combination keys are as follows:  

 

- Combination key: Any kind of combination is available. Please follow the steps: Click “Combination Key” press combination commands in the blank, such as [Alt] + [F4] (= close window) or [Ctrl] + [A] (= select all) click “OK.”

 

- Windows key: You can also define the button as a frequently used Windows key function. The default status of Windows key is disabled.  

For example: If you want to open the start page of Microsoft Media Center PC, please follow the steps below: Click "Combination Key"check "Windows Key" press "[Alt]+ [Enter]" in the blank click "OK."  

 

There are also other standard Windows key combination commands you can define, such as [Windows] + [D] (= show Desktop).

*        String

You may define the button as a string of texts which needs to be input often. The maximum characters are 500. Taking full advantages of this function can save much your text input time and makes your works more efficient.  

2.       Enable Display Label

This command is to show or hide OSD (On Screen Display). When OSD is enabled, each time you press any one of the multimedia buttons, its function name (button label) will appear on the bottom right of the screen. The default of this function is enabled.

3.       Enable Taskbar Icon

This command is to show or hide taskbar driver icon. When the function is enabled, you can see a driver icon its function name (button label) will show on the bottom right of the screen. If you want to reload it again, you can select Start Programs → KeyMaestro→ Configure to launch it. The default status of this function is enabled.

4.       Enable Auto Play

This command is to show or hide the auto play function. When the function is enabled, Microsoft Media Player will show on the screen after you press the “Play” key of the multimedia keys. For Winamp users, you can use the multimedia keys to control Winamp function after you call out Winamp and disable Auto play function. The default of this function is disabled.  

When right-clicking KeyMaestro Driver icon in the Windows system tray, the driver commands menu will pop up. You will find "Enable Mouse Menu" from the driver commands menu. The default status of this item is enabled. When this item is checked, you can call out the "Mouse Quick Jump Menu" function and enjoy freely within these functions that are provided.

If you cancel the check in front of this mouse item,  you can  only set keyboard preference and can't use "Mouse Quick Jump Functions".

If the mouse does not work properly during playing games or launching applications, you can cancel the check of this mouse item to see if the mouse works well or not.

Select this command to exit this driver program, but not to remove (uninstall). After you restart your system, the driver will be loaded again.

In case you have some troubles on installing other programs, we recommend you to exit this Input Device Driver firstly in order to have a cleaner system environment.  

 

 

Troubleshooting

If you are experiencing problems with your keyboard, please check the following:

1. The wireless kit does not work properly

2. The Keyboard Software does not work properly

3. Add/Remove the Keyboard Software or Re-install

4. Other software applications can not be installed properly

5. The repeating rate of previous & next key of multimedia function cannot match the speed of CD-ROM drive.

6. CD or Multimedia Player can not be launched

7. Multimedia Player can not play VCD title or MPEG file

8. Sleep key does not work properly

 

The Sleep function must be enabled in your Windows operating system before you use the Sleep key. The Way to enable the Sleep function is to open the Windows Start Menu Control Panel → Power Options → Choose what the power buttons do → check " Sleep" under " when I press the sleep button " and click " Save Settings " to enable the sleep function.
