Product Description

The wireless kit consists of a keyboard and a receiver. It can operate out of the box immediately after you plug the receiver USB connector into your PC USB port. If it can’t work, please follow the steps below to process ID setting of the wireless keyboard. For more detailed information, please refer to ID Pairing Procedure

The keyboard can operate freely up to a radius of about 10m or 32.8 feet  from the receiver. It will finally free you of the constraints of your desktop by providing a wireless connection between your keyboard, and your PC. Pass around the keyboard during meetings without having to bother about a cable blocking your way or write e-mails and surf the Internet from the comfort of your living room couch!

Besides providing unprecedented freedom of movement when operating the keyboard, the keyboard also offers more extra functionality by introducing dedicated buttons for often used Internet browser functions. (Please note: The Internet keys work only under Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.0 or later version!).

This wireless keyboard is compatible with Windows® 98SE, Windows® ME, Windows® 2000 and Windows® XP operating systems.

- For Windows® 98SE operating system, please download and install the “KeyMaestro Input Device Driver” to have the Internet Keys Block and Multimedia Keys Block functions.

- For Windows® 2000 operating system, please download and install the “KeyMaestro Input Device Driver” to have the Multimedia Keys Block functions.

- For Windows® ME and Windows® XP operating systems, you can use the keyboard immediately after plugging the receiver connector into PC. If you want to enjoy the full potentiality function of these hot keys, please download and install the “KeyMaestro Input Device Driver”. Once the driver has been installed, these hot keys are reprogrammable. For more detailed information, please refer to Hot Key Blocks Feature

In order to fully understand and utilize the full functionality of the wireless kit, please read this Help file carefully.

System Requirements

Hardware Installation

  1. Plug in the dongle receiver connector into your available USB port on PC.

  1. Make sure the batteries of the keyboard is installed correctly. Please follow the polarity signs in the battery compartment.

Remarks:

1. The keyboard uses 4pcs standard UM-3 (AA) 1.5V alkaline batteries.
2.
Keyboard battery life is up to 6 months. KeyMaestro Driver Installation

The USB device driver is included with your Windows operating system.   

During the initial installation of the keyboard USB device, the system will automatically detect that a new hardware device has been added and will bring up the "Add New Hardware Wizard" dialogue box. Follow the Wizard's USB driver installation steps. Once this installation step is completed, the basic functions of the USB device will work under the operating system. The additional functions are provided only after the KeyMaestro driver is installed.

  1. After you download the driver, please find the “SetupKey.exe” in the directory and double-click this file.

  2. Follow the on-screen instructions to install the driver.

  3. The driver icon will show at the right-bottom in the Windows system tray when the driver is loaded. 

KeyMaestro Driver Uninstallation

Please note that you have to uninstall the driver first if you want to re-install the driver.

  1. Right-click the driver icon  on the taskbar and select "Exit" command to exit the driver program.

  2. Click "Start" menu (on the left-bottom in the taskbar).

  3. Move cursor to "Programs" in "Start" menu.

  4. Move cursor again to "KeyMaestro".

  5. Select "Uninstallation".

  6. Click "" to confirm you want to uninstall.

ID Pairing Procedure

After you plug the receiver USB connector into your PC USB port, please hold the keyboard close to the receiver within 1M and press any keys to pair ID. If it can’t work, please follow the steps below to process the ID pairing procedures of the Wireless Keyboard. 

The ID-recognition function helps to protect against interference from other RF products in the same environment. Remember to follow the steps below to change ID when other RF products affect your keyboard kit.

- Receiver ID pairing/connect button on the top of the dongle receiver

- Keyboard ID pairing/connect button on the bottom of the keyboard

  1. Press and hold the ID pairing/connect button on the top of the dongle receiver at least 5 seconds until the receiver LED flashes 3 times. The receiver LED will flash 60 seconds to wait for keyboard pairing information. (If you release the button within 5 seconds, the ID doesn’t make any changes.)

  2. Hold the keyboard and close to the dongle receiver within 1M.

  3. Press and hold the keyboard ID pairing/connect button on the bottom of the keyboard at least 5 seconds until the keyboard LED, which is on the right upper of the keyboard, flashes once. (If you release the button within 5 seconds, the ID pairing will fail.)

  4. The receiver LED indicator flashes 3 times rapidly as indication its’ ID paired with this keyboard. Then you could press any keys to check if the keyboard works or not.

Note:

- The whole ID pairing procedure shall be completed within 60 seconds.   

- Make sure your PC is on and running when doing the pairing procedure.

- You don’t have to pair ID again after changing batteries. If it can’t work, please follow the steps above to pair ID.

Battery Low & LED Indication

          Keyboard battery Low Alarm

- When the keyboard battery is low,  the RED LED indicator, which is on the right upper of the keyboard, will blink when you press keyboard buttons. Please change batteries immediately when the RED LED indicator lights up to ensure the good use of this keyboard. After you change the batteries, the RED LED indicator will disappear.

Note: Always change batteries when battery low alarm appears, otherwise the keyboard will shut down once the battery voltage is too low.

Caps Lock: The KeyMaestro driver icon will show as capslock.gif (893 bytes) when you press the caps lock button.
Scroll Lock: The KeyMaestro driver icon will show as scrolock.gif (892 bytes) when you press the scroll lock button.

Product Information

Hot Key Blocks Feature
Besides the usual keys, this keyboard also has extra-dedicated keys which provide Internet, Sleep, and Multimedia Keys Block functions. 

Once the driver has been installed, these hot keys are reprogrammable. They can be configured as a string, a combination key, a web site, an existing file, or a function that the driver pre-defines for you. Click KeyMaestro icon on the Windows system tray to reconfigure these keys. Please refer to the description of the "Commands in the Menu" for more detailed information.

Your keyboard has the power management “Power off ” & “Sleep” keys. It also can be called ACPI ( Advanced Configuration and Power Interface) keys.

Power off turns the computer off.

Sleep

places the computer into Sleep Mode. 
Any key will wake up your system and return to the previous working status. 

Note: If  "Sleep" key functions do not work properly, please refer to "KeyMaestro Driver Troubleshooting" for more information

Mouse Left clicks or selects the item or area under the mouse cursor.

Note: 

1. In order to use these keys under Microsoft® Windows® 98SE, it is necessary to have the "KeyMaestro Input Device Driver" installed.

2. For Microsoft® Windows® 2000, please install the "KeyMaestro Input Device Driver" to use " My Computer " key.

www Back returns to the last page you viewed.

www Forward views the next page you viewed before.

Refresh refreshes the current Web page in order to make sure you have the latest Web page.

Search opens the Internet search menu.

www Favorite opens the Internet "www Favorite" folder.

www opens the default Internet browser.

Email opens the default program you use for mail.

My Computer

opens "My Computer".  

NOTE: For Microsoft® Windows® 2000, please install the " KeyMaestro Input Device Driver "

Note: 

1. In order to use these keys under Microsoft® Windows® 98SE, it is necessary to have the "KeyMaestro Input Device Driver" installed.

2. For Microsoft® Windows® 2000, please install the "KeyMaestro Input Device Driver" to use " Media Player " key.

Media Player

launches the Windows Media Player.

NOTE: For Microsoft® Windows® 2000, please install the" KeyMaestro Input Device Driver "

Play/Pause

when the CD or Video is playing, press this button to pause it, and press the button again to resume it from the current position.

Previous Track skips backward to the previous file/track.

Stop

stops the playing.

Next Track skips forward to the next file/track.

Volume down

adjusts the volume down.

Volume up

adjusts the volume up.

Mute

mutes the sound.

Commands in the Menu

If you right-click on the KeyMaestro icon on the taskbar, a menu will pop up with the following commands.

Click on this command, a customization dialogue box will pop up with the following functions. 

Select A HotKey

This function contains the default function of a key. You can click on the "Display Label" to re-define the key functions. When you click it, a Configure Button box will appear.

In the "Button Label" box, type the name of application that the button will launch, or any name that will help you remember the function of the button. This label will appear on screen each time you press the button.

You can see a list of pre-defined functions and set one of it for the button.

Type in the path to an often-used application or click the Browse button to select any file in your computer. If you want to attach a web page to the button, just simply type in the website address in the dialogue box.

In many Windows application, there are many hot keys to execute some often-used commands. Some hot keys are combined with two or three keys pressed simultaneously and some are combined with Windows key. It is not easy to press and remember those hot keys. Now you can define those complicated hot keys you always forgot. The ways to define combination keys are as follows:

- Combination key: Any kind of combination is available. Please follow the steps: Click “Combination Key” press combination commands in the blank, such as [Alt] + [F4] (= close window) or [Ctrl] + [A] (= select all) click “OK”.

- Windows key: You can also define the button as an often-used Windows key function. The default status of Windows key is disabled.

For example: If you want to open the start page of Microsoft Media Center PC, please follow the steps below: Click "Combination Key"check "Windows Key" press "[Alt]+ [Enter]" in the blank click "OK".

There are also other standard Window s key combination commands you can define, such as [Windows] + [D] (= show Desktop).

You may define the button as a string of texts that needs to be input often. The maximum characters are 500. Taking good advantages of this function can save much your text input time and makes your works more efficient.

2.  Enable Display Label

This command is to show or hide the OSD (On Screen Display). When the OSD is enabled, each time you press any one of the multimedia buttons, its function name (button label) will show on the right-bottom corner on the screen. The default status of this function is enabled.

3.  Enable Taskbar Icon

This command is to show or hide the taskbar driver icon. When the function is enabled, you can see a driver icon its function name (button label) will show on the right-bottom corner of the screen. If you want to reload it again, you can select Start Programs KeyMaestro→ Configure to launch it. The default status of this function is enabled.

4.  Enable Auto Play

This command is to show or hide the auto play function. When the function is enabled, Microsoft Media Player will show on the screen after you press the “Play” key of the multimedia keys. For Winamp user, you can use the multimedia keys to control Winamp function after you call out Winamp and disable Auto play function. The default status of this function is disabled.

Select this command to exit from this driver program, but not to remove (uninstall). After you restart your system, the driver will be loaded again.

In case you have some troubles on installing other programs, we recommend you to exit this Input Device Driver firstly in order to have a cleaner system environment.

 

Hardware Troubleshooting

1. Symptom: The Keyboard does not work properly

    Solution: If the Keyboard does not work properly, you could follow the steps to check your Keyboard:

(1) Unplug the receiver and plug it in your PC USB port again. 

(2) Next, please check if the batteries in the keyboard is installed correctly or not. Also, please make sure you are using good batteries. 

(3) If the Wireless Kit still does not work properly, please follow the  Pairing Procedure section above to pair keyboard  with receiver. For more detailed information, please refer to ID Pairing Procedure

 

2. Symptom: - Mouse works but keyboard not or
                    - Keyboard works but mouse not

    Solution: 

                    - Try to pair keyboard with receiver. For more detailed information, please refer to ID Pairing Procedure

- replace batteries for failing keyboard

 

3. Symptom: Short range of devices

    Cause: Permanent  RF signal reduction either by 

- noise from RFI source e.g. CRT/LCD monitors

- metal desk or other metal object near keyboard, or receiver

    Solution: 

- Relocate receiver. 

 

4. Symptom: - keyboard loses keys when typing or
                    - slow typing speed or
                    - slow mouse cursor or
                 
   - stuck mouse menu 

    

    Solution: 

                   - Relocate receiver
                   -
Try to pair keyboard with receiver. For more detailed information, please refer to ID Pairing Procedure
                   - Locate RFI devices and move them out of range
               

KeyMaestro Driver Troubleshooting

1. Symptom: The Keyboard Software does not work properly

    Solution: 

- Please make sure if there are any keyboard hot key drivers installed. Remove all keyboard hot key driver first and re-install Keyboard Software to solve the problem.

2. Symptom: Add/Remove Keyboard Software or Re-install

    Solution: 

- After installing the Keyboard software, the Keyboard icon will display in the system tray. If you want to reinstall the software for some reasons, you must delete the Keyboard driver from your operating system first. For more detailed information, please refer to KeyMaestro Driver Uninstallation

Note: If you want to upgrade your Keyboard software or it does not work properly, you can re-install it to fix this problem.

3. Symptom: Other software applications can not be installed properly

    Solution: 

- If  it is failed to install other software applications, you have to remove the Keyboard driver from your system memory by right-clicking on the keyboard icon and select "Exit". Then install the desired software applications. After completing the new software installation, restart your computer and then the Keyboard icon will show in the right-bottom taskbar.

4. Symptom: CD or Multimedia Player can not be launched

    Solution: 

- Make sure CD or Video software and hardware for these functions are properly installed in your system.

5. Symptom: Multimedia Player can not play VCD title or MPEG file

    Solution:

- Make sure you have installed Windows Media Player version 7 or later properly. If not, please download the Windows Media Player version 7 or later from Microsoft Web site.

6. Symptom: Sleep key does not work properly

    Solution: 

- If you have problems using the sleep button, make sure that the power management in your PC has been enabled both in the BIOS and in Windows. For more information on your PC's BIOS settings, refer to your PC's manual. For more information on how to enable the power management features in Windows, refer to your Windows manual.

(1) Please open the Windows Start Menu Settings Control Panel Power Options Hibernate check the "Enable hibernate Support" and click OK to complete enable the Sleep function.

 

(2) For Keyboard setting: Please open the Windows Start Menu Settings Control Panel Keyboard HardwareHID Keyboard Device →  Properities   Power Management check the "Allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" and click OK to finish the procedure.
